| '64 Chevrolet Corvair! Be the 1st on your block in 45 years I have a '64 Corvair Monza coupe, 4 speed, that I must reluctantly part with. It was a project car, but I have to concede that it's a project I'll probably never get back to... First, I'll tell you what's good about the car - the body (painted a metallic blue, but faded - you'll want to repaint it) is in good shape. There is a small dent on the "ridge" on the driver's side rear qp, right on the corner... other than that there's no damage, and very little rust (!) The interior (black interior) needs work, but isn't terrible. A previous owner put carpet in (badly), and replaced the original seats with seats out of another car, maybe a Honda. They look ok, though. It's like, you can tell they put some work into the car, but what work they did wasn't too good.... there's no radio anymore... As for mechanicals - the engine is a rebuilt '67, in excellent condition and with low miles, came out of a '67 convertible I had that rusted away to nothing... damn late-models... I haven't cranked it in a while but it can be made to crank with relatively little effort. The 4 spd trans seems to be fine, and I replaced the accelerator linkage myself a couple years back. As for the bad - the brakes are SHOT, pedal-to-the-floor shot... The steering box is slush, and should either be rebuilt or (better yet) replaced (and yes, that's the insane one-piece 49" column... sorry in advance for the shipping charges). The wiring is kinda funny too if I remember correctly, it wasn't too fun driving it from Location: Gastonia, NC 28054 (USA) Area code: (704) Contact: |
